A veve is a ritual drawing done in vodou ceremonies to invite the presence of divine spirits. This veve calls upon Ogou Feray, a flower spirit that guides his follwers against their enemies. Ogoun Feray carries an iron saber and wears a red sash. Ogoun Feray is the god of war and metals, pioneering, intelligence, justice, medicine, and political power; these are associated with the symbol of the tool that can advance humans mastery over the environment. Ogoun Feray is impetuous, authoritarian, cautious, hardworking, suspicious and a bit selfish. Ogoun Feray fights to win, he is the essence of every fight, and he is present wherever there is war, discord, or the manifestation of war. Whatever you seek from Ogoun Feray, you can trust that he will work continually until he wins. Exceptionally fine detail is the hallmark of these veve artwork. Each bit of beading represents a single hammer stroke.
